Agreement

By downloading, installing, or using the Fren mobile application (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, don’t use the App.

What Fren is

Fren is an iOS app that generates audio courses on topics you provide. You enter a subject, edit the chapter outline, and Fren produces a narrated, chaptered audio course you can listen to in-app. Course content is generated by third-party large-language and text-to-speech models.

Accounts

You sign in to Fren with Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. You’re responsible for keeping your account secure. You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. One account per person.

Subscriptions & pricing

Fren is free to start and offers optional auto-renewing subscriptions for higher limits and added features:

• Free — 1 course per week, courses up to 30 minutes.
• Plus — $9.99/month — 10 courses per month, Deep Research, courses up to 60 minutes.
• Pro — $14.99/month — 25 courses per month, Deep Research, courses up to 90 minutes.

Prices are in U.S. dollars and may vary by region; the price shown in the App at purchase applies. Subscriptions are billed monthly through your Apple ID.

Auto-renewal. Your subscription renews automatically each month unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel your subscription anytime in your App Store account settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled by Apple under the Apple Media Services Terms.

A daily generation cap also applies to all accounts to keep the service sustainable. Listening to courses you’ve already generated is unlimited. We may adjust limits or pricing in future versions; we will not retroactively delete courses you have already generated, and price changes never apply to a billing period you’ve already paid for.

Content from AI

Course outlines, scripts, and audio are generated by AI models (Gemini for text, Cartesia for voice). AI-generated content can contain mistakes, simplifications, or fabricated facts. Fren is a learning aid, not a source of truth. Do not rely on Fren courses for legal, medical, financial, or other consequential decisions, and always verify important facts against an authoritative source.

Your topics & acceptable use

You decide what topics to generate courses about. You agree not to use Fren to generate content that:

• Is illegal in your jurisdiction
• Sexualizes or endangers minors
• Instructs on building weapons, malware, or biological, chemical, or nuclear agents
• Targets, harasses, or defames an identifiable real person
• Infringes copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights
• Attempts to extract or reverse-engineer the underlying AI prompts or model behavior

We may decline to generate or may remove courses that violate these rules, and we may suspend accounts that repeatedly abuse the service.

Ownership of generated courses

To the extent we hold any rights in the courses generated for you (outlines, scripts, audio), we grant you a personal, worldwide, royalty-free license to listen to them inside the App and to share them via the App’s built-in share feature. Commercial redistribution of generated audio requires our written permission. We retain rights in the App, the brand, and the underlying systems.

Shared courses

Sharing a course generates a public link. Anyone with the link can play the course. You’re responsible for what you choose to share. You can revoke the link at any time from the course’s detail screen.

Service availability

Course generation depends on third-party providers (Google Gemini, Cartesia, Supabase). We can’t guarantee uninterrupted availability. If generation fails after you start it, it does not count against your daily or lifetime limits.

Limitation of liability

The App is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to reliance on AI-generated content.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time from Settings > Account > Delete account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or abuse the service. On termination, we remove your content as described in the Privacy Policy.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the revised Terms.
